Today I wanted to share some details from the circus themed baby shower I hosted a couple of weeks ago {see post here}. The decorations were a fun project to work on because the circus theme was quirky and playful and opened up so many options for decorations.
For the dining room sideboard, I made a circus tent backdrop using basic supplies. The tent was made of three pieces of foam poster board and the tent material was made of a plastic tablecloth that I had leftover from the last baby shower I hosted {here}. I simply cut the tablecloth to size and then gathered and taped the cloth at the top to create a draped tent effect. For the opening of the tent, I covered the poster board with white streamers and then finished the tent with some paper decorations made out of scrapbooking paper.
For the wreaths in the other side of the serving area, I added ribbon and some circus themed signs to wreaths I had left over from the previous baby shower {here}. To hold the plates, napkins, and some additional food, I used the galvanized steel containers that I had leftover from the low country boil we hosted earlier this summer {here}.

For the sign-in table, I put a couple of pictures of the parents and big sister-to-be and added some plastic circus animals as decoration. To add some more color to the table, I put some flowers in the thrift store milk glass vase that I wrote about {here}. I also made a couple of small circus tents out of cardboard birdhouses I picked up in the clearance section of Michael's for $1 each! We had guests leave a note for the baby in Dr. Seuss' All Aboard the Circus McGurkus. The guest sign in book not only fit the theme but was also a useful keepsake for the baby.

For the favor table, I added some more pictures of the sister-to-be and made a sign out of a couple more foam poster boards. The poster boards are covered with streamers and the lettering and thank you sign were made out of fonts from dafont.com. We gave out cotton candy as party favors to go along with the circus theme.
