birthday tassel garland...

As I mentioned the other day, I have been helping a friend out with a few decorations for her daughter's upcoming birthday party.  This past weekend, I made a tassel garland for her in her theme colors (red, gold, and silver).

Tassel garlands are fairly easy to put together and only require a few materials.

Materials:
Sharp Scissors
Floral Wire
Colored Tissue Paper
Ribbon
Curling Ribbon

I picked up the gold and silver tissue paper at Target.  The red polka dot tissue paper and the curling ribbon were super cheap finds at Salvation Army.  Right after Christmas, the thrift store is a great place to get wrapping paper products for a good deal.

Steps:

1.  Each tassel takes one piece of tissue paper.  First step is to cut the tissue paper into thin strips.

2.  Next, line up the strips and then twist them in the middle.

3.  Next, fold the twisted part in 1/2 and secure in place. I used floral wire but hot glue would work as well.

4.  Lastly, attach the tassels to the ribbon.  I used the floral wire but you could also loop the ribbon through the top of the tassel.

I also made a few extra tassels for her to hang on balloons for extra decoration.
