A few months ago, I wrote about an Ikea Tarva dresser that I stained and put in our guest bedroom {see here}. At the same time, I also purchased this 6 drawer dresser to use on a project for a friend.
I did not actually end up using the 6 drawer dresser for my other project so the dresser has been sitting in my garage for a few months now. A few weeks ago, I decided to stain it and put it in our master bedroom. Here is what it looked like after I finished…
I won't go through all the details and steps since I basically followed the same steps as before {see here}. I used two coats of Minwax Dark Walnut Wood Finish and three coats of Minwax Clear Gloss Polycrylic.
I bought larger knobs for the hardware this time and also picked a different color to match our bedroom colors. The ceramic knobs are from Cost Plus World Market.
I am still thinking through how I want to decorate the rest of our bedroom. In the meantime, this is a vast improvement on what was there before (an old broken dresser from college).

And a quick comparison of the before and after…
I like the way the wood grain shows through after the coatings.
